What the numbers show
These update as you filter the map. The safety-equipment figure covers only crashes where equipment use was recorded — records marked unknown are left out rather than assumed compliant.
Crashes through the year
Season is the strongest pattern in this data. ATV and side-by-side crashes peak through the summer riding season; snowmobile crashes occupy the winter months and barely overlap.
Crashes by year
The red portion of each bar is crashes where someone was killed or seriously injured. A year with fewer crashes but a taller red band is not an improvement.
Safety equipment changes how these crashes end
Riders only, from crashes where equipment use was recorded. People struck by an OHV are excluded, and records marked unknown are left out rather than assumed either way.
